Bringing together several attempts to measure forces of friction with and through sound, these sound objects connected together are activated by air pressure, electric relay and vibratory processes, then amplified by microphones and hydrophones. Inspired by visual forms from archeology and laboratory, the installation tries to rethink the notion of instrument, using the mechanics of fluids, heat and energy transfers as elements for sound composition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\">[fran\u00e7ais]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:0.9rem\"> \u00abLa tribologie alternative\u00bb est une recherche en cours qui explore divers ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes de frictions \u00e0 travers une s\u00e9rie d&#8217;instruments \u00e9lectro-acoustiques faits \u00e0 la main. This tree \u00ablanguage\u00bb occurs through touch and the close proximity of the spectators, thanks to their electrostatic energy. The tree sings when the audience is touching or stroking lightly it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In their artwork, the artists Scenocosme create hybrids between plants and digital technology. Plants are natural sensors and are sensitive to various energy flows. Digital technologies permit them to establish a relationship between plants and sound. They display the effects of random data flow and plant interaction. The data is modified as the spectator meanders around and touches the installation, resulting in a random musical universe. Audience contacts with plants generate sound effects and change in the texture of the sound. There is a specific vegetal language through sonorous compositions. They signify a character, a behavior having a feedback, an influence on the reaction, on the feeling and on the approach of the spectator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\">[fran\u00e7ais]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:0.9rem\">Phonofolium est une \u0153uvre interactive pr\u00e9sentant un arbuste qui r\u00e9agit au moindre contact humain par un langage, un caract\u00e8re sonore. Sensible \u00e0 notre \u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrostatique, cet arbuste r\u00e9agit \u00e0 notre toucher et \u00e0 notre proximit\u00e9. Ainsi, lorsque les spectateurs le caressent ou l\u2019effleurent, celui-ci se met \u00e0 chanter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:0.9rem\">\u00c0 travers leurs cr\u00e9ations, les artistes Scenocosme travaillent sur des hybridations possibles entre v\u00e9g\u00e9tal et technologie num\u00e9rique. Les plantes sont des capteurs naturels et vivants, sensibles \u00e0 des flux \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques divers qu\u2019ils proviennent de nos corps ou de l\u2019environnement o\u00f9 elles sont expos\u00e9es. Ils interpr\u00e8tent les flux per\u00e7us par l\u2019arbre en proposant une interaction sonore. Ils abordent un traitement, une modification des donn\u00e9es li\u00e9e aux interventions des spectateurs dans l\u2019\u0153uvre. Leurs contacts avec l\u2019arbre permettent d\u2019en modifier les teintes et les fluctuations. Cette \u0153uvre propose un langage v\u00e9g\u00e9tal sp\u00e9cifique qui se manifeste \u00e0 travers une composition sonore signifiant un caract\u00e8re, un comportement. Here the artists use ash wood. These sheets of wood have distinct sonorous touch zones that follow the natural veins of wood. The researches of Scenocosme have enabled them to develop an artistic and technical process invisible and delicate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A meticulous and invisible design work gives them the ability to define a musical score spread over different areas of the wood. They have invented this process of Bio hacking that they call \u00abinteractive marquetry\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their wood sculptures produce sounds when the spectators touch them. They use sounds to stimulate haptic and gestural behaviour. Thus, the design of these sculptures looks like instruments which reveal by the touch various kind of sounds. According to sculptures, the relation can be sonorous or at the same time visual and sonorous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\">[fran\u00e7ais]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:0.9rem\">\u00abMati\u00e8res sensibles\u00bb est une s\u00e9rie de sculptures r\u00e9alis\u00e9es \u00e0 partir de feuilles de placage de bois tr\u00e8s fines et d\u00e9licates, ici de fr\u00eane ond\u00e9. Ces feuilles de bois poss\u00e8dent des zones tactiles sonores distinctes qui suivent les veines naturelles du bois. Les recherches de Scenocosme leur ont permis de d\u00e9velopper un processus artistique et technique invisible et d\u00e9licat. Ce travail minutieux leur donne ainsi la possibilit\u00e9 de composer une partition sonore sensible qui se r\u00e9v\u00e8le au contact des diff\u00e9rents dessins du bois. Ils ont invent\u00e9 ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 de Bio hacking qu\u2019ils nomment \u00abmarqueterie interactive\u00bb.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:0.9rem\">Les sculptures de bois de Scenocosme produisent des sons lorsque que les spectateurs les fr\u00f4lent. Elles fr\u00e9missent, ronronnent, crissent&#8230; \u00e9mettent des timbres sonores vari\u00e9s. Ils utilisent ici les sons pour stimuler un comportement gestuel et haptique. Ces sculptures ont ainsi \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7ues sous la forme d\u2019instruments qui r\u00e9v\u00e8lent au toucher diff\u00e9rentes sonorit\u00e9s. Selon les sculptures, la relation peut \u00eatre sonore ou \u00e0 la fois visuelle et sonore.<br>Depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es, les artistes Scenocosme cr\u00e9ent des oeuvres interactives dans une d\u00e9marche singuli\u00e8re d\u2019hybridation entre \u00e9l\u00e9ments naturels et technologie. Ils dessinent des interrelations symboliques et sensibles entre le corps et l\u2019environnement qu\u2019il soit naturel ou social. Ces sculptures de bois proposent une relation intime et sensorielle entre le bois et le corps du spectateur en r\u00e9v\u00e9lant une m\u00e9moire sonore au contact physique de la mati\u00e8re. Ils utilisent le bois comme une surface interactive sensible dont l\u2019\u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrostatique du corps humain est l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ment d\u00e9clencheur. Les zones interactives suivent exactement les veines du bois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:0.8rem\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bios<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The artists Gregory Lasserre and Anais met den Ancxt work under the name Scenocosme. They live in the Rhone-Alpes region in France.&nbsp;<br>Their singular artworks use diverse expressions: interactive installations, visual art, digital art, sound art, collective performances etc&#8230;. Scenocosme mix art and digital technology to find substances of dreams, poetry, sensitivity and delicacy. These artists overturn various technologies in order to create contemporary artworks. Their works came from possible hybridizations between the technology and living world (plants, stones, water, wood, humans&#8230;): their meeting points incite them to invent sensitive and poetic languages. Most of their interactive artworks explore various relationships between the body and the environment.
